“There are places unlike anything witnessed in this world… they exist, I’ve seen them with my own eyes…” Ok, enough with the epic space dialogue. Nike has teamed up with LeBron James to deliver “A fusion of the best elements that Nike Basketball has to offer” in the form of the LEBRON 9, a futuristic shoe that’s literally out of this world.
I was the Lead 3D Modeler responsible for most of the 3D assets throughout the spot. I utilized our new 3D scanner on the hero shoe, creating a fairly accurate high polygon model to use for proportions. The technology and time saved was worth the cost of the scanner, but fortunately for my career the scanned model topology needed to be rebuilt by hand, so it looks like I won’t be replaced by a robot just yet.
